Having consulted on the scheme last year, the Irish government has announced a new renewable energy support scheme (RESS) which was informed by the analysis CEPA provided.

Announcing the new scheme the Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment said: "RESS has been approved by Government and I will now seek State Aid Approval. This scheme will mark a shift from guaranteed fixed prices for renewable generators to a more market-orientated mechanism (auctions) where the cost of support will be determined by competitive bidding between renewable generators."
